Aaron Swartz and Anonymous Fight The Dragon

I don’t like Julian Assange. I don’t like what he does. I have too much respect for our ambassadors, intelligence agents, and everyone serving on our behalf on foreign shores to to have any respect for anyone who compromises their safety. I hope they take care of him. I saw this story today that Anonymous has hacked into some government site in revenge for the death of Aaron Swartz. It sort of reminded me of the Biblical passage from Genesis 3:15 “And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.”

I don’t see Anonymous or Assange, or anyone who thinks they’re going to take a slingshot up against the United States government celebrating a victory anytime soon. And if they actually do manage to compromise the safety of anyone serving on the behalf of the American people I don’t foresee too much sympathy coming their way when they are found suicided, too. Not that I’m a huge apologist for America or our foreign policy, but I believe sincerely when anyone serves on our behalf and stands a post anywhere in the world, anyone who fools with their safety gets what they get.

Another thing to keep in mind is that when someone like Anonymous or Julian Assange divulges what they say are innocuous locations of diplomats or foreign agents they expose a huge network of people to risk because the enemy goes and watches who those agents and diplomats are interacting with, then in many cases murders those people later. So Assange can claim he’s doing what he does in the name of transparency, but the end result is often a trail of suffering and bloodshed heaped on those trying their best to serve their countries and the people.

There are always consequences in life and unintended results, even when you’re convinced you’re completely in the right. Everyone pays a price for advocating a position and everyone and every thing is resisted in this Universe.
